Design

Thoughtful design responds to demonstrable needs in a unique place, using limited time and resources. Thorough analysis and formal goal setting allows us to avoid probable conceptual impasses, and allows our design team to explore creative problem solving tailored to client needs and desires to achieve realistic, thoughtful design.

Interiors

RGB's interior design team is experienced in providing a full scope of services ranging from renovation to new construction, supporting all the project types that our diversified firm practices, including corporate, educational, institutional, hospitality, retail, and residential sectors. Interior projects range in size from smaller scale projects of under 1,000 square feet to larger projects of over 180,000 square feet. RGB's interior design services include:

RGB has long supported owners by delivering owner's representative services that keep project teams on track. Because we are also a full-service design firm, as owner's representatives we provide insight into the working architectural drawings and design teams. RGB is currently supporting the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe as it develops the $400 million Project First Light resort casino in southeastern Massachusetts.

Sustainability

RGB has helped lead the sustainable design movement in our region. In the decades past, this meant buildings that stood the test of time, were tempered by good planning and lifecycle analysis of components, and were accommodative to future modifications.

We take these traditional tenets and, using frameworks such as the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy Design (LEED), extend them using computer-based models of modern components. This allows exacting design performance standards to be developed, tested, and then optimized against expected saving and investment. Our team continues to deliver on the expanding potential of energy efficient design, life cycle cost analysis, and indoor air quality and building commissioning standards.

Code

An essential part of the architectural toolkit, RGB's code analysis experience gives us a distinct edge over our peers. Compliance with regulations ensures that liability is limited. In conducting planning, investigation or remediation work, or even in offering expert witness services, RGB offers qualified personnel.

Architectural Forensics

Architectural forensic investigations are used to document existing conditions or to shed light on difficult to diagnose problems, in buildings both new and old, which could be the result of wear and tear or from design and construction defects. RGB helps clients determine solutions for issues identified to get buildings working as intended. RGB staff have also served as plaintiff's expert witness in cases in which the design and construction might be deemed faulty.

RGB's services go beyond design. Leveraging the depth of our professional experience, we provide a range of additional critical consulting services that separate us from our industry peers.

When buildings do not perform as designed, our staff can investigate the issues at hand and develop long-term solutions. Our understanding of past and present building envelope science, building enclosure of walls, roof systems, and components, allows us to recognize and mitigate present conditions, whether they pertain to recent construction or structures with hundreds of years of age.

We document conditions as general wear and tear over a building's life cycle, a possible result of constructed defects, or as caused by water or fire damage. In incidents of possible negligence, RGB offers expert witness/litigation support services.

The demanding building and fire codes currently in use can necessitate additional review of documentation. We offer third-party review and code analysis, as well as representation in code variance pleas. We also represent owners in evaluating prepared design documents and through on-site monitoring.
